Incumbent US Senator Lisa Murkowski (R, AK ) is up for reelection next year. Given the absolute mess that the US Senate has turned into, perhaps it is time to explore a few observations and rumors about the upcoming campaign.

One of the recent tricks by democrats in recent elections has been to split conservative votes by funding and backing libertarian candidates in closely contested elections.

Interesting election here in Alaska. All four of the democrat sponsored ballot initiatives passed. Three required a yes vote. One required a no vote. Unfortunately for the democrats, the positive outcomes on the initiatives did not drag their candidates across the finish line with them for the most part.

Internal polling for the Mother Ship that is the Mark Begich for US Senate campaign must be showing things that are worrisome to our Boy Senator, as they ran a vicious and untrue ad blasting away at his Republican opponent Dan Sullivan last weekend.

Senator David Vitter (R, LA) introduced S.2156, the Regulatory Fairness act of 2014 in congress last month. The legislation is an attempt to keep the EPA from preemptively or retroactively vetoing a permit under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.  Lisa is supporting the legislation.  Mark claims not to know about it.

The proposed Obama budget continues its assault on military members and retirees started a year ago during the Sequester, when for the first time in memory they targeted users and employees of the military commissary system for their special brand of loving care.

“Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.”

– Samuel Johnson, April 7, 1775.

This is one of the great historic quotes, particularly applicable during the political campaign season.

Mark Begich and his democrat majority in the US Senate have destroyed millions of jobs in the last 5 years.  Why allow him to continue?

One of the excuses given by Mark Begich for voting for ObamaCare is that it was supposed to increase jobs here in Alaska and nationwide. The excuse for a federal takeover of one-seventh of the national economy was to improve job opportunity for all Americans. What does this say about the economic acumen of our Boy Senator? Not much.

More continuously legitimate government is possible by shortening the “lame duck” session that occurs every two years. We also need to move Congressional operations into the electronic age.

When Mark Begich promises to never take your guns, that promise holds as much water as his promise to let you keep your health care insurance.  None.

District O Senator Peter Micciche, R-Soldotna, is hosting meetings with officials from the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Fish and Game in Soldotna and Homer next week to take a closer look at House Bill 77. The legislation is aimed at streamlining the permitting process in Alaska and seeks to build upon efforts in recent years to make the process more efficient.

The 17th amendment removed an important power of the states in the interest of reducing corruption. Moving that power back to the states while creating a hybrid system that also curtails corruption is the goal of this new amendment.

Senator Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage, in partnership with the Alaska Independent Power Producers Association, will be hosting a “Competitive Energy Roundtable” discussion on November 12th in the CIRI first floor conference room.

Mark Begich now supports a delay in ObamaCare.  Pity he didn't three weeks ago.

Guess who jumped on the “Extend and delay ObamaCare” bandwagon. Why, none other than our Boy Senator himself, Mark Begich.

Our Boy Senator, who is up for reelection next year had himself quite a week; one he should be proud of. Not.

The anti-Pebble campaign claims another victim.  15,000 Alaskan jobs go down the drain.  But at least we saved commercial fishermen living in Seattle.

Our Boy Senator made his yearly address to the Alaska Legislature a couple weeks ago. In it, he fired the first rounds in defense of the seat he won after the leftist lawyers in the (In)Justice Department wrongly convicted Ted Stevens in 2008.

Why is Lisa Murkowski working with Senate democrats on women's issues?

March 9, 2012

Well, true colors don't fade for long. Lisa Murkowski, one of Alaska's two senators, seemed capable of grasping the implications of the Blunt Admendment last week when she enjoyed local press coverage of her vote in support of it.

March 2, 2012

For two gruesome nights this week I listened for hour after hour as the Senate Resources Committee took public testimony on ACES reform.

The one thing that actually stood out to me was how many people parroted the “we need MEANINGFUL reform” line. What exactly does “meaningful” mean in this debate?
