Breathless reporting a couple weeks ago described 2014 as the hottest year on record. Follow-up stories blamed it all on manmade carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and called for instant / immediate government action to solve the problem.

The feds forcast a mild, warm winter for the Lower 48 states.  We got one of the harshest and coldest in decades.  If they can't predict 3 months in advance, why believe them on predictions 50 years out?

There is a great H.L. Menken quote from his 1922 In Defense of Women that goes:

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

When the climate change models no longer reflect the observed world, it is time to toss the models and quit making policy based on their fraudulent output.

Last year was supposed to be a huge hatch of 17-year Cicadas in the eastern US. But this is not the story I am interested in today. Sweet Sixteen is a very old way of celebrating the coming of age of young women here in the West. I’m not talking about that either.

Recently the Anchorage Daily News published several letters-to-the-editor and Compass articles concerning human-caused global warming. In each case, the authors of these letters and articles referred to what they described as large majorities or a “consensus” among scientist that humans were the cause of global warming.
